SYMPTOMS

When attempting to start CuteFTP from the Tools menu in CuteHTML Pro, that option is unavailable.  Instead of Start CuteFTP, Get CuteFTP is the only option.

CAUSE

This is a known issue when using versions of CuteFTP that are more recent than CuteFTP Pro 3.3.

RESOLUTION

CuteHTML Pro can still be used in conjunction with CuteFTP.  To do so, follow the steps shown below to configure CuteFTP so that CuteHTML Pro is used as the default HTML editor.

1. Start CuteFTP.
2. On the Tools menu, click Global Options.
3. Click Helper Applications and then clear the Use the integrated HTML editor to edit files check box.
4. Click the browse button to the right of the File editor text box and browse to the CuteHTML Pro program file and then click Open. (By default, the full path is C:\Program Files\GlobalSCAPE\CuteHTML Pro 6\cutehtmlpro6.exe)
5. Click OK to close Global Options.

After configuration in this manner, whenever you elect to edit remote files, CuteFTP will start CuteHTML Pro and then monitor the folder containing the temporary file being modified.  Once you are finished making your changes in CuteHTML Pro and have saved them, CuteFTP will upload the changes back to the server.
