Advanced workflows do not return modified variables to the calling event rule

SYMPTOM

Advanced workflows do not return modified variables to the calling event rule. Not returning the modified variable breaks functionality in which EFT event rules rely on data manipulation within workflows.

RESOLUTION/WORKAROUND

To make the AML work with variables passed from external sources

• When defining the workflow in the Task Builder, select the Treat as parameter check box and edit the "Create a variable" statement. This parameter is disabled/unselected by default.

In Automate 24 and later versions of the Advanced Workflows module, this option is mandatory to make EFT custom variables work in the event rule.
