Licensing

The EFT BETA includes a 15-day trial. Using production serial numbers on BETA builds to register the product is not recommended. If a trial extension is needed, please email Ivan Vasquez at ivan.vasquez@fortra.com to extend your trial. For details on extending the EFT trial process, please review our help documentation topic "Extending the Trial" in the EFT admin interface. However, instead of submitting your trial extension, please provide the Preview Request details in your email.

Production Use

It is highly recommended to install and test the EFT BETA only in staging/development environments to avoid issues/conflicts with production systems or data.

Automate AML Migration

When upgrading an EFT test environment to EFT 8.2, all Automate tasks (AMLs) will be converted to run on Automate v2024. EFT administrators are not required to convert AML tasks manually. An error and list of failed Automate task conversions will be displayed if any conversions fail.

Automate AML Import

EFT 8.2 supports manual conversion of Automate v10 AMLs to v2024. EFT administrators will see errors for failed conversions.

Automate Task Changes That Require EFT Administrator Changes

  • Issue: For event rules running an Automate Workflow task containing Display Dialogs, a dialog will pop up on the user’s screen every time the event rule is triggered.
    • Solution: The Dialogs (popup expecting an interactive user action) within the AML should be replaced with an appropriate alternative (Windows Event Logs, Automate variable preset)
  • Issue: "Query a CSV file" sample: If upgraded from an older version, running the task will fail with an error stating the issue with Connection provider
    • Solution: Provider should be set to "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.16.0", which would require the user to install "Microsoft Access Database Engine 2016 x64" on the system if it’s missing. The provider should be installed when using this action
  • Issue: AML containing DaysInMonth(07) format used will not work in new version of Automate
    • Solution: User should manually replace it with new supported alternative: DaysInMonth(dateexpr), DaysInMonth(Now()), DaysInMonth(DateAdd("m",1, Now())), DaysInMonth(DateSerial(2004,02,34), etc. See Automate help documentation
  • Issue: Some AMLs will have lots of redundant spaces on indented lines
    • Solution: The user should manually fix the indentation
  • Issue: Using an array or dataset to store into a variable will cause the Automate task to fail
    • Solution: Use VBScript to assign a value (that is not a simple type) to a variable or to iterate over the array and copy the elements to the target array
  • Issue: Upgrade AW task failed. This might happen because Automate 2024 does stricter validation of Automate task’s xml than Automate v10 did.
    • Solution: User should manually export the AML and verify the xml validity, if it is invalid then fix it and import back into EFT.
  •  Issue: This is only applicable to BETA customers. If you have used any version prior to 8.2.0.28, EFT was bundled with Automate v2023. As of EFT 8.2.0.28, this now includes Automate v2024. Upgrades between beta builds are not supported, however, if you upgrade from EFT 8.2.0.27 to EFT 8.2.0.28 the older Automate v2023 is not properly removed and as a result there are two Automate services listed under Windows Services
    • Solution: Uninstall EFT 8.2.0.27 or older, then install the newer BETA build or revert your test environment to a clean version and then install EFT 8.2.0.28 or higher.

New Behavior:

  • Issue: An event rule running an Automated Workflow task:  the task info will pop up on user’s screen every time the event rule is triggered on a given schedule
    • Solution: That info popup can be manually disabled from the Automate Task Admin -> Options -> System Settings ->Indicators ->Display running task window when a task is running
  • Issue: Automate Workflow tasks appears with an error icon: The issue might appear if Automate and EFT are installed/upgraded separately
    • Solution: User should manually open and Save & Close all the Automate Workflow tasks from the EFT administration interface so that the migration could take place, making sure EFT could find the Automate directory
  • Issue: Automate Workflow icon appears in Windows taskbar: The Automate task builder icon is displayed even when Automate Tasks are not executing
    • Solution: None, this icon indicates the Automate Task Administrator service is running. This process will start the Automate Task builder when any EFT event rules trigger
  • Issue: Automate Workflow e-mail actions configured with “System” will fail to send emails
    • Solution: Launch the Automate Task Administrator, click on Options>Default Properties>Email and update the email configuration settings
