Advanced Workflow Engine (AWE) Excel Tasks fail to save when run via EFT Event Rules, but work when tested in Task Builder

THE INFORMATION IN THIS ARTICLE APPLIES TO:

  • EFT Enterprise, version 6 and later

SYMPTOM

Advanced Workflow Engine (AWE) Excel Tasks fail to save when run via EFT Event Rules, but work when tested in Task Builder.

RESOLUTION

The AWE product uses a 32-bit structure, so it looks for this path C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\Desktop, even if you are on a 64-bit operating system. Before running the Task in an Event Rule, create the following folders:

  • 64-bit:
  • C:\Windows\Syswow64\config\systemprofile\Desktop

  • 32-bit

    C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\Desktop

MORE INFORMATION

Excel objects run in the context of the user executing them. If EFT is running as a Local System, then the Excel object is executed using the Local System profile.
