QUESTION

What is EFT Server’s expected behavior when an Event Rule attempts to offload or download a file that is missing from the source folder?

ANSWER

For LAN transfers, in all versions of EFT Server, the Event Rule will continue as if the source file is not missing. For protocol (non-LAN) transfers, behavior varies depending on the version of EFT Server. In EFT Server versions 6.2.x and earlier and version 6.3.13-6.3.18, the transfer will be considered to have failed when the source file is missing. In this case, failed transfers will trigger the If action Failed then action, if enabled. However, in versions 6.3.0 through version 6.3.12, the Event Rule will continue as if the source file is not missing, as in LAN transfers. The table below describes this behavior.

Version LAN Transfers SFTP, FTP/S, or HTTP/S Transfers
6.2.x and earlier Continue Event Rule Trigger Failure Action
6.3.0 - 6.3.12 Continue Event Rule Continue Event Rule
6.3.13 - 6.3.18 Continue Event Rule Trigger Failure Action

In version 6.4, a check box was added to the Copy/Move Action wizard and the Download Action wizard with which you can configure whether you want the missing source file to be considered a success or a failure of the transfer. The If the source file missing, treat as success check box is available for all protocols in the Copy/Move Action, but only for LAN transfers in the Download Action. If the check box is selected and the source file is missing, any If action Failed then actions in the Rule will NOT trigger.
