QUESTION

I have FTP space available through my Road Runner account.  How can I access it using CuteFTP?

ANSWER

Configure CuteFTP to connect with your Road Runner Personal Home Pages account using the following settings.

• FTP Host Address: home.XXXX.rr.com (Where XXXX = your local Road Runner system designation, for example, in San Antonio substitute SATX for XXXX.  In Southern California, substitute SOCAL.)
• Username: Your Road Runner user ID or the directory name you specified when you setup your Personal Home Pages account.
• Password: The password that you specified when you setup your Personal Home Pages account.

To configure CuteFTP:

1. Start CuteFTP.
2. Press CTRL + J to start the Connection Wizard.
3. On the first screen, type home.XXXX.rr.com as the host address.  (Be sure to substitute your local Road Runner system designation for XXXX.)
4. Underneath that, type a Site Name to use as a descriptive label for your site.
5. Click Next and provide the User Name and Password you specified when you setup your Personal Home Pages account.
6. In the Login method area, click Normal.
7. Click Next.  CuteFTP will attempt to validate the FTP account log in details that you have provided.
8. On the next screen, make any desired changes to the default local and remote folders.  If you are not familiar with these settings, then do not change them.
9. Click Next and then click Finish.
10. You will be connected to your Road Runner Personal Home Pages account automatically and the site will be saved in the CuteFTP Site Manager using the name you selected in Step 4 above.  Next time, just open the Site Manager and double-click on the name of your site to connect.
