Starting from EFT 7.4.x
If you're on 7.4.x, you must export and convert your SFTP keys before moving into
EFT 8.x because newer SFTP libraries don’t support older key formats. See
Upgrading EFT v7.x - 8.0.6 to a later version.
Best Practice
7.4.x → 8.0.0.38 / 8.0.1.4 / 8.0.2.23 → 8.0.4 → 8.0.5 / 8.0.6
This “stepped”
upgrade helps avoid issues when jumping many versions. See
Upgrading EFT v7.x - 8.0.6 to a later version.
Minimal Supported Stepping Example
7.4.x → 8.0.2.xxx → 8.0.4 → 8.0.6
This gets you into the 8.0.6 branch safely. See
Upgrading EFT v7.x - 8.0.6 to a later version.
From 8.0.6 to 8.0.7
Once on 8.0.6, you can
upgrade directly to 8.0.7.
8.0.6 → 8.0.7
Notes for 8.0.7 Upgrades
- Service account changes — the EFT service Log On account may be reset, so prepare to reconfigure it after the upgrade.
- Modules and licenses carry forward, but you may need to re-register some after the upgrade. See Upgrading to EFT v8.0.7.
From 8.0.7 to 8.1 or Later (Latest)
To reach 8.1 or later (including current/latest 8.x releases), you must be on 8.0.5 / 8.0.6 / or 8.0.7 first:
8.0.7 → 8.1.0 → Latest 8.1+ version
Important Constraints
- The installer won’t allow upgrading to 8.1.x unless your installed version is one of: 8.0.5, 8.0.6, or 8.0.7.
- You may need to do sequential upgrades (e.g., 8.0.7 → 8.1.0 → 8.1.latest).
- After each upgrade step, restart the EFT server service and log in to the admin interface before continuing to the next. See Upgrading to EFT v8.1 or later.
Simple Upgrade Path Summary
Here’s the streamlined
upgrade version
path you can reference quickly:
7.4.x → 8.0.2.xx → 8.0.4 → 8.0.6 → 8.0.7 → 8.1.0 → 8.2.1 → 8.3.x
This
path adheres to supported direct
upgrade links between versions. See
Upgrading EFT v7.x - 8.0.6 to a later version.
Important Considerations
- SFTP keys: must be exported/converted before a 7.4 → 8.x upgrade.
- Service account resets may happen moving into 8.0.7.
- Installer enforces supported source versions for upgrades.
- Always backup configs & DBs before upgrading.
