QUESTION

Does EFT support single-click/one-click authentication?

Note: If you are looking for information about Single Sign-On support in EFT, refer to Integrated Windows Authentication for Single Sign On (SSO) or SAML (Web SSO) Authentication (globalscape.com) in EFT

ANSWER

Yes, you can pass user credentials to EFT Server through a parameter in the URL used to connect to EFT Server through the Secure Ad Hoc Transfer (SAT) module.

  • In EFT versions without SAT, you must use a third-party app to create the base64-encoded username and password pair. (Free base64-encoding utilities are available online, such as https://www.base64encode.org/)
  • In EFT v6.3 -7.2.x  (SAT version 3), SAT creates the URL for you when you configure single-click authentication in the SAT interface.
  • In EFT v6.2 and earlier (SAT version 2), you can create a base64-encoded username and password pair and insert them into SAT's web.config file.

Add the base64 parameter to end of the WTC URL, such as:

https://eft.server.com?wtcQID=dXNlcm5hbWU6cGFzc3dvcmQ=
where "dXNlcm5hbWU6cGFzc3dvcmQ=” is the base64-encoded username:password pair.

To create a base64-encoded password in EFT Server v6.2 and earlier

  1. In your Web browser, type the URL for the SAT send page with encode.htm at the end of the address. For example, type:
  2. http://localhost/EFTAdHoc/encode.htm

The GlobalSCAPE WebAdmin Base64 Encode Utility appears.

  3. In the Enter password and Confirm password boxes, type the administrator password, then click Encode to create the obfuscated version of the password.
  4. In the SAT configuration file, edit the EFTAdminPassword value, replacing it with the obfuscated password you just created. Also, replace EFTAdminUsername with the new administrator username you just created.
  5. To create an encoded username:password pair, type the username and password separated by a colon. For example, type: admin:admin
