About Trellix and Trellix Web
Trellix Web (now CuteSITE Builder) and Site Builder powered by Trellix Web Express are two distinctly different products. In order to find an accurate answer to your Trellix question, please first determine if you are using the Trellix Web software that resides on your local computer, or if you are instead using the free online Web site builder powered by Trellix or Trellix Web Express provided by your hosting provider or ISP.
-
If you launch Trellix Web and build and save your Web site on your local computer before publishing it, then you are using Trellix Web. Click Help > About Trellix Web to confirm the version you are using. HP, Dell, Tripod and many other companies at one time provided free versions of Trellix Web in return for your Web hosting business.
-
If instead you must first connect to the Internet and then build your site using your Web browser then you are using Site Builder powered by Trellix Web Express although your Web hosting company may refer to it by some other name. Examples of this are the Web site builder services offered by Verizon or PeoplePC.
Common Questions About Trellix
Did GlobalSCAPE buy Trellix?
No, GlobalSCAPE did not purchase Trellix Corp. We did however enter into a licensing agreement to distribute one of their many Web authoring products in late 2001. Only the paid for "Publish Anywhere" version of Trellix Web 2.x was affected and that product, improved upon, became GlobalSCAPE's CuteSITE Builder.
I received a free copy of Trellix Web with my new computer or scanner. I used it to create my Web site but now I can't publish it. What can I do?
At one time several companies provided free versions of Trellix Web to their customers in return for that customer's Web hosting business. Subsequently, the companies that provided those free copies in most cases moved to an online Web site builder, powered by a newer Trellix product called Trellix Web Express. As a consequence, the free copy of Trellix Web that you received with your computer is probably no longer functional.
I built my Web site using the online Web site builder provided by my Web host and now I can't access it. My web host provider says to contact GlobalSCAPE. Why can't you help?
Your Web host provider uses Site Builder powered by Trellix Web Express. This is not the same software as GlobalSCAPE's CuteSITE Builder or it's predecessor, Trellix Web (the client). Technical support for Trellix Web Express is provided through the various partners such as your Web host. If you have questions, please access customer support at the location where you originally built your site. Your Web host should NOT be sending you to GlobalSCAPE. Your Web host should be able to handle any inquiries you might have about Site Builder powered by Trellix Web Express. If you continue to be referred to GlobalSCAPE, we recommend you speak with a supervisor and explain the situation.
I purchased the Trellix Web Site Creation Kit book and CD-ROM and cannot publish the site I created. What can I do?
The TrellixWeb Web Site Creation Kit contains a limited version of the TrellixWeb software that is no longer functional. The Creation Kit is a product that is not affiliated in any way with GlobalSCAPE or CuteSITE Builder. In some cases, the information in the book is still valid for use with CuteSITE Builder although there have been quite a few changes to the program. Unless you are able to use the printed book to some advantage, our recommendation is for you to return the Creation Kit to the place of purchase for a refund.
I want to re-install Trellix Web. Where can I download it?
Trellix Web is no longer available for download. Restore Trellix Web from a previously saved backup or from your original disks.
How do I get technical support for Trellix Web?
Technical support for Trellix Web (Publish Anywhere) is only available through the CuteSITE Builder online community forum.
Are upgrades from Trellix Web to CuteSITE Builder available?
No, upgrades from Trellix Web to CuteSITE Builder are no longer available.
